The 21st-century children are computer savvy and technology lovers. These days there are various applications available online for kids to learn. The following blog will discuss the relevant pros and cons for encouraging them towards computers and digital media.
Firstly, online education is based on pictures, videos, online quizzes, recorded classes, and flexible timings. The studies done on digital platforms can be achieved anytime and anywhere as per students' wish. Online platforms can easily store a large quantity of data directly on personal mobiles and laptops for further use. For instance, a student of grade 8th, who is having difficulty understanding the water cycle process, can connect to its omnipresence features for better understanding with different colorful audiovisual patterns and images.
Furthermore, the coronavirus pandemic has made school studies mandatorily to be conducted from homes only through internet connections.
However, there are some demerits also to the Internet-based classes. It has been observed that the entire education system is becoming more and more dependent on data from the web, thus limiting its reach to maximum students.
For a clear example, the children who cannot afford broadband and dongles for internet connections, especially smart devices like smartphones, laptops, tablets, and tab tops at their homes, are deprived of education these days. A more hazardous situation occurs when children open inappropriate content sites, affecting their eyesight and psychological growth.
To sum up, Internet has many advantages like quick learning and better understanding, while many severe disadvantages to overall health development. One should be vigilant about what one is receiving from today’s virtual era.
